California Coaches Association COY
“Coach Zimmerman has been someone I have looked up to since the day I arrived at OHS. He’s always treated me and cared for me as one of his own. Till this day, he continues to be a very influential man in my life. Love you coach, you deserve it.”
“Coach Z came into my life at a very important time. Since I was a young teenager, Coach Z treated me with respect. He listened to what I had to say and he mentored me through difficult times. I have many memories but some that stand out most are the times he dropped me off at my house after practice and we just sat in his truck and talked. As an athletic director, father, and husband, I now understand that time is the most important thing we can give and Coach Z has been more generous with his time than anyone else I know. “ Cory Leighton
Cory Leighton is a former Breaker and Pirate of Coach Z. Corey is currently the athletic director at Sage Creek high school. Mr. Leighton and his family reside and South Ocansideside but also own a real estate office in South Oceanside, a community which they both are constantly pouring back into.
Congratulations to Frank Zimmerman (or Coach Z as he is called by his players, past and present), this award by the California Coaches Association is a great recognition of a great coach who has spent a majority of his life supporting our youth in a positive manner. Coach Z has always been about teaching life lessons via soccer and has had great influence on his players in doing so. I had the privilege to have him coach me in high school and fortunate to have him as a mentor as an adult. I’m extremely grateful for his service to the youth in our community over the years. Well done Coach!!! Miguel Barragan
