7 Time State Cup Champions & 2 Time National Cup Champions #Breakermade

The Oceanside Breakers Girls 96-97 team won the 2013 Celtic Cup last weekend.

The girls entered the tournament with various injuries, and overcame a tournament opening loss to Santa Monica United (Coast League Gold) 1-2 to go on and win the tournament. Hannah Sander had the goal in the loss. Defender Rachel Hay was lost for the tournament in the first game, and the Breakers made the necessary adjustments in the next game. The Breakers defeated the Orange County Premier (Coast League Gold) team in 2-0 win in a must-win game that saw the Breakers take first place in the group. Marlene González and Morgan Liggan had the goals while Lauren Langston had the shutout in goal. Elise Harris was able to help lead the defense and play in the midfield for the team. The Breakers then went to the semi-finals and defeated Los Angeles Premier FC (Coast League Gold) 3-0. Marlene González had two goals and Audrey Brown added another for the win. Taylor Brust, Caroline Page, Mackenzie Lee, and Makaela Rietman anchored the defense with Langston for the second shutout of the tournament. In the Final the Breakers faced the SoCal Blues-Dido (SoCal Developmental League – Flight 1). The Breakers scored first with a rocket from Bianca López to take the lead. The lead was short-lived as the Blues tied the game minutes later. Esmeralda Rodríguez scored the game-winner minutes into the second half. The Breakers held on to win and defended well to hold off the Blues attack. Brenda Ibarra was instrumental in overcoming pain to help lead the midfield. Briana Juache played multiple positions and took on multiple assignments with the various injuries to help the team. Trainer Courtney Pedry was instrumental in her patchwork of the team to keep them playing! Special thanks to Team Manager Jennifer Liggan who kept the team organized throughout.
